Job Description:
- Define the product roadmap by working with your product management counterparts and leaders to identify and drive forward new capabilities.
- Write robust requirements, prioritize the backlog, and work closely with the engineering teams to deliver and test quality software
- Develop and manage project plans and key stakeholder engagement strategy on all initiatives
- Build relationships with key business partners and other brand stakeholders; articulates product needs clearly and succinctly to different audiences and cross functional partners
- Develop in-depth knowledge of industry trends and standards to introduce the continual process, tool and methodology improvements
- Identify, measure, and interpret results to validate product strategy; Provide research, analysis, and support for identifying, evaluating, and resolving strategic opportunities
- Influence strategy for area/team
Senior Product Manager Tokyo Job Qualification:
- Experience in designing, developing and implementing point of sale platforms, APIs, and/or complex customer capabilities
- Experience working with large software engineering teams both within and outside of your domain
- Demonstrate technical acumen; ability to influence and debate solutions with technical team members, to understand technology solutions and potential tradeoffs and to represent technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders
- Ability to assess relatively complex situations and analyze data to make judgments and recommend solutions
- Sound knowledge of concepts and procedures specific to own subject area and a basic understanding of the procedures in other relevant areas
- Points of Sale and store applications experience strongly preferred.
Product Management Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager in retail technology, software product development, or a related field.
- Experience in defining product roadmaps, writing robust requirements, backlog prioritization, and working with engineering teams to develop and test software.
Retail & POS System Expertise:
- Strong background in designing, developing, and implementing Point of Sale (POS) platforms and store applications.
- Understanding of in-store retail technologies, including POS APIs, checkout solutions, and customer engagement tools.
- Experience working with software development teams that support large-scale retail operations.
Technical Acumen & Stakeholder Management:
- Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and communicate effectively with engineering teams.
- Experience influencing technical decisions, understanding trade-offs, and articulating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in working with cross-functional teams, including business leaders, engineers, and product managers to drive product strategies.
Data-Driven Decision Making:
- Ability to assess complex situations, analyze data, and derive insights to inform product strategy.
- Experience in identifying, measuring, and interpreting key performance metrics to validate product success.
Languages & Global Collaboration:
- Fluency in Japanese and English (mandatory) for seamless communication with stakeholders in Japan and global teams.
- Experience working with multinational teams across different time zones.
Preferred Backgrounds:
- Industry Experience: Retail, e-commerce, fintech, or enterprise software companies with a focus on customer-facing applications.
- Companies to Source From: Large retailers (e.g., Uniqlo, Aeon, Client, Amazon, Walmart, Macy’s), POS solution providers (e.g., Square, NCR, Toshiba Global Commerce), or SaaS companies supporting retail technology.
