Responsibilities
- Client Advisory & Executive Engagement:
- Act as a trusted transformation advisor to senior leaders across Business, IT, Operations, Risk, and Finance
- Lead CxO-level workshops and discussions to shape transformation vision, objectives, and success measures.
- Provide strong insurance domain context to guide decision-making across life, retirement, and succession offerings.
- Enterprise Transformation Design & Shaping:
- Support clients in structuring and governing large-scale transformation programs, including:
- Transformation vision and multi-year roadmap
- Initiative prioritization and sequencing
- Governance, decision cadence, and accountability models
- Help move transformation from initiative-driven efforts to a coordinated enterprise
- program with clear ownership and outcomes.
- Operating Model & Ways-of-Working Transformation:
- Advise on target operating model design, covering organization structure, roles, KPIs, and decision rights.
- Support changes to ways of working across business and IT to improve speed, alignment, and execution predictability.
- Ensure operating model changes are practical, regulator-aware, and culturally aligned to Japanese insurance organizations.
- Business Process & Journey Transformation:
- Lead end-to-end business process and journey assessments across:
- Customer and advisor engagement
- Policy onboarding and underwriting
- Servicing, retirement events, beneficiary and succession scenarios
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, clarity, and experience through process simplification and digitization.
- Transformation Governance & Value Realization:
- Establish portfolio-level visibility across transformation initiatives.
- Support definition of benefits, KPIs, and value realization mechanisms.
- Track progress, risks, and dependencies, ensuring leadership has a clear line of sight on outcomes.
- Consulting Delivery Oversight:
- Own consulting engagements from discovery → design → execution support.
- Partner with delivery, architecture, and change teams to ensure strategy translates into execution.
- Maintain strong stakeholder management, issue resolution, and executive-ready communication.
- Practice & Business Growth (Director Track):
- Support business development in Japanese insurance accounts (client conversations, proposal shaping).
- Contribute to TMC’s insurance transformation capability through reusable assets, frameworks, and mentoring.
- Help build and coach a strong Japan-based bilingual consulting team.
Job Qualification:
Insurance Domain Expertise
- 12–15+ years in life insurance / retirement-focused insurance.
- Strong exposure to:
- Life planning propositions and advisory models
- Retirement planning products and lifecycle servicing
- Succession planning / beneficiary / estate-linked insurance considerations
- Solid understanding of Japanese insurance market structures and distribution models.
Transformation & Consulting Experience
- Proven experience in management consulting or transformation advisory roles.
- Experience shaping and governing large, complex transformation programs.
- Strong problem structuring, story-lining, and executive communication skills.
Language & Cultural Fluency
- Native Japanese with strong facilitation and business writing capability.
- Fluent English for global collaboration and delivery artifacts.
Desirable (Nice-to-Have)
- Experience with enterprise transformation offices (TMO / TMO-like constructs).
- Exposure to digital, data, or technology modernization initiatives in insurance (advisory context).
- Experience operating in highly regulated environments with multiple senior stakeholders.
