Job Responsibilities:

  • Executing product development in Mainframe as well as supporting corporate products in AS400 for group insurance, as well as two managed services platforms of insurance product development. Products developed are a combination of Life, Medical and Investment products with variable and single premium type options.
  • Oversee the end-to-end systems delivery and execution of plans in close collaboration with business & other IT groups while ensuring alignment of information systems plans with business strategies.
  • Lead the team in planning, building, operating, enhancing, sustaining, and maintaining the relevant portfolio of business applications and processes across the enterprise.
  • Oversee the portfolio of projects from planning to delivery and sustain support to ensure that projects meet defined business objectives, time and budget constraints, and architecture standards.
  • Oversee the development and implementation plans for feasibility assessment, solution design, metrics, and performance measures.
  • Define, plan, design, and implement policy admin/agent commission/corporate systems that meets long-term strategy & is sustainable for the next generation.
  • Develop and implement a modernization strategy for the mainframe policy admin systems to enable a cost-efficient and sustainable technology stack for legacy technology-dependent product solution
  • Rationalize policy admin systems that would simplify product development and enable to achieve faster time-to-market
  • Build strategic and technical relationships with all senior leadership to drive the technology vision and goals.
  • Provide thought leadership and transformation recommendations in business application software solutions for various Metlife products and services under the remit.
  • Translate business strategy and plans into concrete programs of value delivery leveraging Cloud & DevOps methodologies.
  • Recruit, coach and nurture a team consistently over-performs and delivers on business and technology objectives.
  • Drive change management and culture change by adhering to and evangelizing Metlife values and behaviors.
  • Create long-term vision and strategy for Policy Administration Systems, Agent Commissions Systems, Corporate Systems and relevant technology solutions.
  • Evolve, innovate, and foster a dedicated Policy Administration Systems solution organization.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships with relevant executives, ensuring collaboration and alignment to critical business priorities.
  • Own and contribute directly to the successful achievement of overall global and regionally cascaded annual IT goals and objectives for identified programs of work, talent and culture, as well as portfolio execution excellence.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and management of the resources based in diverse locations, including employees and partner resources to ensure high engagement (MyVoice or equivalent).
  • Create diverse and inclusive teams, develop higher team engagement with Metlife Culture as one team.
  • Drive positioning of Metlife as an employer of choice for technologists.
  • Be accountable and responsible for effective financial management, planning and monitoring of the resources owned.

Job Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Engineering, Computer Science or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Approximately 20 or more years of experience in software development including leadership roles focused on next generation technology and platform development
  • Ten or more years of applicable experience in managing systems delivery teams in complex environment, large scale, environments including management of sourced services
  • Ten or more years of applicable experience in establishing and managing vendor relationships.
  • Experience with Cloud, digital technologies and agile development methodologies/environments
  • Proven program/project management experience in implementing complex business applications including integration of disparate applications.
  • Strong execution experience in Agile delivery of large portfolio.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and teaming skills; skills and experience in executive level communication and presentations
  • Bilingual proficiency at business level in English & Japanese
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and inspire a high-performing engineering team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Language: Business level Japanese (JLPT N2) and Business level English
