Job Description

  • Lead functional discussions with Japan business teams to capture requirements around sales, marketing, patient and hospital datasets.
  • Translate Japan-specific business rules, KPIs and reporting needs into functional specifications and test cases.
  • Ensure alignment with Japan commercial processes, including NHI price revisions, DPC hospital practices, wholesaler–distributor networks and generic drug uptake.
  • Define and maintain functional documentation, business glossaries and data dictionaries for Japan commercial datasets.
  • Apply strong expertise across IQVIA Japan, Veeva CRM, hospital sales data, prescription/claims data, patient data and pharmacy datasets.
  • Provide insights into market access, sales force effectiveness, territory alignment and incentive compensation models in Japan.
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure data workflows support Japan’s regulatory and compliance requirements (PMDA standards, data privacy laws).
  • Oversee data validation, UAT coordination and release testing for Japan commercial data workflows.
  • Define functional data quality rules and reconciliation processes for datasets (wholesaler vs. claims vs. Rx).
  • Support governance teams in aligning with Japan data privacy, reporting and audit frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with client’s global and Japan-specific data governance and cataloging practices.
  • Act as the primary functional liaison between Japan stakeholders and offshore/onshore technical delivery teams.
  • Support Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog grooming, UAT sign-offs) by representing functional requirements.
  • Provide training, documentation and functional walkthroughs to end-users and business leadership.
  • Communicate effectively in Japanese and English, bridging cross-cultural gaps between business and technical teams.

Job Qualification:

  • 9+ years of experience in pharma/healthcare commercial data projects, with at least 4–5 years in Japan market.
  • Deep expertise in Japan pharma commercial datasets:
    • IQVIA Japan (prescription, sales, patient datasets).
    • Veeva CRM Japan (field activity, detailing, multichannel data).
    • DPC hospital data, wholesaler shipment data, claims & Rx data, NHI price revisions.
  • Strong understanding of commercial pharma KPIs in Japan (market share, sales force effectiveness, call reach/frequency, territory alignments).
  • Experience translating business requirements into functional design documents, data mapping and test scenarios.
  • Knowledge of data governance, compliance and reporting standards in Japan pharma (PMDA, privacy laws).
  • Strong documentation, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Prior experience working with global pharma companies’ Japan subsidiaries (Eisai, Takeda, Astellas, Daiichi Sankyo etc.).
  • Familiarity with Informatica IDMC/IICS, Databricks or data governance platforms from a functional perspective.
  • Exposure to data cataloging, lineage and metadata management practices.

Japanese Language: Native level Japanese (JLPT N) required and business level English required.
