Job Description

Appealing Points:

  • Design engaging retail and e-commerce experiences by creating intuitive, user-centered web and mobile interfaces for the Japanese market.
  • Collaborate with global product teams to deliver high-quality UX/UI solutions, from research and prototyping to design handoff and QA.
  • Shape digital experiences for Japan by combining strong UX expertise, Figma proficiency, and deep understanding of Japanese user behavior and localization.

Annual Salary: 12 Million Yen and above

Job Responsibilities:

UX & UI Design Execution 

  • Design end-to-end digital retail and e-commerce experiences across web and mobile platforms 
  • Translate business requirements, user needs, and cultural context into intuitive UX flows and high-quality UI designs 
  • Create wireframes, interactive prototypes, and production-ready UI designs using modern design tools (Figma preferred) 
  • Apply strong visual design principles including layout, typography, spacing, and hierarchy while adhering to client brand guidelines 
  • Experience working with or contributing to enterprise design systems, including component libraries and design tokens 

Localization & Cultural Context

  • Ensure digital experiences are culturally appropriate and optimized for Japanese users 
  • Apply a deep understanding of Japanese digital behaviors, usability expectations, and content patterns 
  • Act as a bridge between global design intent and local market needs 
  • Partner with content, localization, and engineering teams to ensure design accuracy and relevance 

Product Delivery, Hand-off & QA

  • Collaborate closely with product managers and engineers to embed UX throughout the delivery lifecycle 
  • Establish and follow clear UX hand-off practices to ensure design intent is correctly implemented 
  • Participate in UX and UI quality assurance prior to release to reduce post-launch defects and rework 
  • Contribute to delivery maturity by identifying UX gaps, inconsistencies, and design debt

Research, Testing & Optimization

  • Conduct and support user testing to validate design decisions 
  • Support A/B testing and experimentation initiatives 
  • Analyze user behavior and web analytics performance 

Job Qualifications:

  • 5–10 years of experience in UX or Product Design 
  • Demonstrated experience designing retail and e-commerce platforms 
  • Strong portfolio showcasing UX problem-solving and high-quality visual (UI) design 
  • Experience with localization or market-specific design work 
  • Expert proficiency in Figma 
  • Experience working with global, cross-functional teams 
  • Comfortable collaborating remotely across multiple time zones 
  • Proven experience living and working in Japan, with strong cultural understanding 

Langauge Required: Native Level Japanese and Business level English
