• Support engineering activities across the full product lifecycle, from concept and design to validation and release, including drive and ride evaluation of mass-produced or prototype vehicles

Job Description

This role covers instrument panel and interior trim design for the automotive interior and exterior design department, within vehicle body design (interior trim) in the automotive industry.

Job Responsibilities

• Create and release 3D CAD data and 2D drawings for resin interior trim parts
• Design using design surface data, and coordinate with styling, packaging and manufacturing teams
• Carry out material selection and basic feasibility studies for resin and sheet metal molded parts
• Support engineering activities across the product lifecycle, including concept, design, validation and release
• Review and ensure adherence to engineering standards, quality requirements and project timelines
• Drive and ride in mass-produced or prototype vehicles for design evaluation, subject to a signed memorandum of understanding
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a successful product launch

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering
• CAD experience with NX (3D data creation) and PLM release
• Experience designing resin or sheet metal molded parts for automotive interiors
• Basic knowledge of resin/plastic parts design and mechanical engineering fundamentals
• Experience designing using design surface data (Class-A / styling surfaces)
• Experience designing instrument panels for OEMs, with general knowledge of automobiles
• Ability to create documents and reports using Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Effective communication skills and general business manners (work rules, personal appearance, language use)
• Multi-tasking capabilities to manage priorities
• Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and a consistent ability to meet deadlines

Language Required: Conversational level Japanese (JLPT N3 and above). English is an added advantage.
