• Design exterior resin parts for automobiles, creating and releasing 3D CAD data and 2D drawings for exterior plastic parts
• Work with design surface data (Class-A / styling surfaces) and coordinate with styling, packaging and manufacturing teams
• Support engineering activities across the full product lifecycle, from concept and design to validation and release, including drive and ride evaluation of prototype vehicles

Annual Salary: 5.5 Million Yen and above

Job Description

This role covers exterior resin parts design for the automobile interior and exterior design department (Exterior Design Section 1 and 2), within vehicle body design (exterior) in the automotive industry.

Job Responsibilities

• Create and release 3D CAD data and 2D drawings for exterior plastic parts
• Design using design surface data, and coordinate with styling, packaging and manufacturing teams
• Carry out material selection and basic feasibility studies for plastic parts and sheet metal molded parts
• Support engineering activities across the product lifecycle, including concept, design, validation and release
• Review and ensure adherence to engineering standards, quality requirements and project timelines
• Drive and ride in prototype vehicles for design evaluation, subject to a signed memorandum of understanding
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a successful product launch

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering
• CAD experience with NX (3D data creation) and PLM release
• Experience designing exterior resin parts for automobiles
• Experience designing sheet metal molded parts, with knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals
• Experience designing using design surface data (Class-A / styling surfaces)
• Experience designing automotive parts, with general knowledge of automobiles
• Ability to create documents and reports using Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Effective communication skills and general business manners (work rules, personal appearance, language use)
• Multi-tasking capabilities to manage priorities
• Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and a consistent ability to meet deadlines

Language Required: Conversational level Japanese (JLPT N3 and above). English is an added advantage.
