Annual Salary: 5.5 Million Yen and above

Job Description

This role covers seat design work for the four-wheel platform design department (Seat Product Design / Seat Design Department), within vehicle body design (seating) in the automotive industry.

Job Responsibilities

• Create and release 3D CAD data and 2D drawings for seats, seat mechanisms and seat belt parts
• Independently prepare design data and drafts, and coordinate with styling, packaging and manufacturing teams
• Carry out material selection and strength / feasibility studies for resin and sheet metal molded parts
• Support engineering activities across the product lifecycle, including concept, design, validation and release
• Review and ensure adherence to engineering standards, quality requirements and project timelines
• Understand the purpose of assigned tasks, deliver to that purpose, and report, contact and consult at the appropriate time
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a successful product launch

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering
• More than 5 years of experience in 3D creation using CAD, creating data and drafts independently
• CAD experience with NX (3D data creation) and PLM release
• Experience designing resin or sheet metal molded parts, with knowledge of material mechanics applied to design
• Experience designing seats, seat mechanisms or seat belts
• Knowledge of maintenance tools and measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, etc.) and general knowledge of automobiles
• Ability to create documents and reports using Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Effective communication skills and general business manners (work rules, personal appearance, language use)
• Multi-tasking capabilities to manage priorities

Preferred Qualifications

• Dexterous hands and skill at DIY work
• A valid driver’s license

Language Required: Conversational level Japanese (JLPT N3 and above). English is an added advantage.
