Job Description

This role is responsible for backend system development using Java and Spring Boot for a global insurance industry digital transformation project. Through microservices architecture and API development, you will promote the digitalization and modernization of insurance operations, collaborating with members in Japan and overseas on large-scale system development.

The project is an application development and modernization initiative for a global insurance company. For the core systems of insurance operations, the team is promoting microservice development and API integration centered on Java and Spring Boot. You can also engage in enterprise system development using the latest technologies, including integration with industry-standard platforms such as Guidewire and Salesforce, and you will be involved consistently from design to release.

Job Responsibilities

• Communicate and coordinate with customers, onsite teams and offshore teams
• Participate in system design and architecture discussions
• Design and develop backend systems and microservices using Java, Spring Boot and Node.js
• Design, implement and maintain REST APIs and SOAP APIs
• Conduct code reviews and promote quality improvement activities
• Investigate faults, perform root cause analysis and implement bug fixes
• Collaborate with frontend, data, QA and DevOps teams throughout the software development lifecycle
• Support batch processing operations using tools such as Control-M and JP1
• Perform system build, deployment and release activities

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on system development experience using Java and Spring Boot
• Development experience using Oracle, MySQL or PostgreSQL databases
• Experience coordinating and communicating with customers, onsite teams and offshore teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing applications using Node.js
• Experience with microservices architecture, as well as API design and implementation
• Experience working in Agile development, DevOps or CI/CD environments
• Hands-on experience with OpenShift, container technologies, GitHub, Jenkins or similar tools
• Experience developing systems for the insurance or financial services industry
• Experience with test automation using tools such as SoapUI and Postman

Language Required: Fluent level Japanese (JLPT N1 and above) and Business level English.
