How many project managers are there in your company? Not as many as you would like we bet!
Currently, there is an urgent need to address the shortage of project managers in Japan. Even the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has begun work on this shortage.
One of the reasons for the lack of enough qualified PMs is the difficulty in training.
A good Project Manager must have high IT skills of course, but they also need to understand the methodologies of project management. All this takes time. Time that many companies do not have.
For every good Project Manager, there is likely to be a capable Project Coordinator (sometimes referred to as PMO) supporting the team. A good PMO can make the difference between finishing a project on time or finishing it late (or not at all!).
